COMPOSITE CAR PARK DECK HAT TRICK

Raised Floor Solutions has secured the contracts to supply and install high performance composite car park decking for the construction of three car parks in Norwich, Scunthorpe and Grimsby.

Each of the new facilities is a single raised deck car park which will be constructed above an existing surface car park.   This form of construction is both cost efficient and quick to install whilst offering car park operators, local councils and other organisations such as NHS Trusts and rail operators almost double the number of parking spaces over the same footprint.

Each of the contracts will be fulfilled by Raised Floor Solutions’ specialist car park flooring division, Metpark, and involves the supply and installation of Kingspan Multideck MD60 steel decking, a popular composite metal decking profile frequently specified for car park construction.

In Norwich, Metpark will supply and install 2,850m2 of steel decking for the construction of a new 128 space £1.9m car park serving local counsellors at County Hall, Norfolk County Councils’ main headquarters. The new facility will be erected over the top of an existing surface car park.

In Scunthorpe, the Metpark team will supply and install 1,500m2 of composite car park deck for the construction of a new car park at Scunthorpe General Hospital. The new facility forms part of a major £30m redevelopment of the hospital which includes a new A&E department. The ground floor will be open to the public, whilst the new upper level will be reserved for staff parking.

The car park, which can be seen in this CGI animation, is expected to be completed for July this year.

At the Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby, the new 243 space raised deck car park forms part of a major redevelopment to provide patients with a new A&E facility.

Metpark will supply and install 2,698m2 of metal decking for the construction of the composite concrete floor. The car park is due to open in September this year and can be seen in this CGI animation and the image below from Leeds based P+HS Architects.
