Care Home Composite Concrete Floor System

The contract to provide a composite concrete floor system for a new care home in Guiseley has been awarded to Raised Floor Solutions.

Raised Floor Solutions was appointed to the project by the main contractor and will provide composite steel decking and reinforced concrete floors for the construction of the new 72-bedroom facility.

Located on Otley Road, the new care home will enjoy the leafy and historic surroundings of Guiseley’s Conservation Area and has been expertly designed as a ‘new generation’ of care home delivering high standards in a stylish home-from-home environment.

Clinical care will include residential, nursing and dementia care delivered on an individual person-centred basis. A professional care team will also provide daily activities and excursions.

Each bedroom will be fully furnished with private en suite wet rooms and will have access to an elegant communal lounge, dining room, spa assisted bathrooms, a hair salon and nail bar and beautifully landscaped gardens.

The contract for the composite concrete floor system will be delivered by Metal Deck, RFS’s steel decking contractor division, and Metcon, RFS’s concrete floor contractors. Raised Floor Solutions’ expert in-house technical team will design the floor system using Kingspan software.

Metal Deck will supply and install 1280m2 of Kingspan MD80 XP composite steel decking over two-storeys.  Metcon will then cast a 160mm in situ concrete slab on the steel decking reinforced with A142 mesh and given an easy float finish.

The Metal Deck team is due to start on site imminently.

What is Kingspan XP?

Kingspan XP is the name given to composite steel decking that has been manufactured in Magnelis®; a metallic coating that provides additional corrosion protection.

Magnelis® is produced on a classic hot dip galvanising line, however the molten bath has a unique chemical composition of zinc and 3.5% aluminium and 3% magnesium. This composition provides the composite steel deck with up to three times more corrosion protection than standard galvanising in all types of environments. It also equips the steel decking with ‘self-healing’ surface and cut edge protection.

Magnelis® was developed by ArcelorMittal, find out more about Magnelis® on composite steel decking in this data sheet.
