Raised Floor Solutions has been awarded the contract to provide steel decking and concrete flooring for the construction of a significant new £100m mixed use development adjacent to Liverpool’s ‘Knowledge Quarter’.

Aura’ is a landmark new development, which is being built on the site of the former Erskine Industrial Estate and lies in a strategic position within walking distance of the University of Liverpool, Liverpool Lime Street Station and popular shopping mall, Liverpool One.

The scheme will provide residential accommodation units for both students and key workers; particularly hospital staff, student nurses and doctors employed at the forthcoming £450m Royal Hospital. Communal student facilities include a yoga studio, gym and bar as well as retail units.

Architecture is by Falconer Chester-Hall and comprises two buildings linked by extensive public realm. The taller of the buildings extends to 14 storeys and will provide 1007 student rooms along with communal facilities including a student lounge, gym, secure cycle storage and landscaped courtyards. A second modern apartment building will offer 142 one and two bedroom apartments.

Metaldeck Steel Decking will supply and install 28,100m2 of Kingspan Multideck MD80 steel floor decking with Metcon Concrete Flooring designing and installing a 160mm thick concrete slab with Dramix fibre reinforcement.

Work on the project began in May 2018 with Raised Floor Solutions on site until March 2019.
