The composite flooring contract for the construction of 67 high-quality apartments on the site of a former silk mill in Macclesfield has been secured by Raised Floor Solutions.

Georgian Mill, on Lower Bank Street in the town centre, was destroyed by fire in 2011 and has become an eyesore in the Cheshire town.  Local housing provider, Peaks and Plains, has commenced the demolition of the Mill remains to make way for a new development of affordable one, two and three bedroom apartments for sale and for rent.

The £10m development, called Crossings, has been designed by architects Pozzoni and will also provide internal and external communal space.

Teams from Raised Floor Solutions’ steel decking and concrete flooring divisions will move on site in August this year.

Metaldeck Steel Decking will supply and install 5,830m2 of Kingspan Multideck MD50 and Metcon Concrete Flooring will design and install a 130mm concrete floor slab re-enforced with A193 andA252 mesh over the same area.
