Derian House Update: And the winners are…

Last year, the RFS team voted in their chosen charity for the year. Unanimously, the votes went to Derian House Children’s Hospice in Chorley.

Derian House provides outstanding end of life care and breaks to over 400 children and young adults with life shortening or life limiting conditions. They support the whole family, from child through to grandparents, and the lengths they go to to provide the highest standards of care and quality of life are truly remarkable. It costs around £4 million per year to run the Hospice and, as you can imagine, last year it was harder than ever to raise the funds needed to operate.

The team set up a Just Giving page and petitioned friends, family, clients, contractors and suppliers to donate and take part in some of the many innovative (and occasionally crazy) fundraising events staged.

Donations also came from RFS team members and their families staging their own fundraising, such as Senior Site Foreman Ian Kinsella, whose daughters gifted money raised from Christmas Carol singing to Derian House, as well as running a Bonus Ball raffle. Commercial manager Sharon Hollins also donated a fantastic Christmas Hamper to raffle.

The year culminated in a Grand Christmas raffle where, once again, the team, clients and contacts pulled put all the stops with the donation of fantastic prizes and services, and by purchasing raffle tickets.

The winners were drawn on 11th December by the RFS team and include Ali and Greg Taylor who received a Nespresso Coffee Machine. They said, “We’re absolutely delighted to support such a lovely Charity and winning a prize is fantastic as we never win anything!’.

The winner of the weekend break to Marton Mere is a family of 6 who will be making full use of this fantastic prize over the summer. Another winner kindly donated his prize back to Derian House to use for even more fundraising in 2021. A full list of winners is available on the Just Giving page.

The total raised for the charity by the RFS team at the end of 2020 was £3,363.00, well above the target set. A huge thank you must go to everyone who supported the fundraising, either by donating funds, prizes, buying tickets or staging their own events. The team are incredibly grateful.

Raised Floor Solutions has committed to continue fundraising for Derian House throughout 2021 and will shortly be announcing a range of pre and post lockdown fundraising events.
