Steel Floor Decking for Industrial Units

Metal Deck, the steel floor decking contractor within Raised Floor Solutions, has been awarded the floor contract for a new £35M development of warehouse and industrial units in Coventry by the main contractor.

Units 1 – 17 Holbrook Lane will provide 254,000 sq ft of industrial space on a 12-acre site just two and a half miles north of Coventry city centre.

The site forms part of a substantial new mixed-use development which will also include new build residential homes from two of the UK’s most prominent volume housebuilders.

Metal Deck has been contracted to supply and install 1352m2 of Kingspan Multideck MD60 0.9mm steel floor decking.

About Kingspan Multideck MD60

What is Steel Floor Decking?

Steel decking is a profiled sheet of thin galvanised steel used as formwork in the construction of buildings. It is most commonly used in composite floor construction where it is combined with shear studs and reinforced concrete.

During manufacture, steel floor deck is shaped into a shallow or deep profile (known as ‘dovetail’ or ‘re-entrant’ and ‘trapezoidal’) and marked with indents to improve the bond with concrete.

Steel decking is also known as metal decking, composite floor decking, corrugated steel decking and ‘wrinkly tin’.
