The metal decking, concrete flooring and metal roof divisions at Raised Floor Solutions are working together to deliver composite concrete floor systems and roof for the construction of Manchester Waters Tower C.
The waterside apartment scheme, now in its third phase, is a collaboration between award winning developer X1 and Peel L&P, and sits on Pomona Island; a strip of land lying between the Bridgewater Canal and the Manchester Ship Canal to the west of Manchester city centre.
The 26-acre island, which has been renamed Manchester Waters, is subject to Peel’s wider Strategic Waters masterplan. Proposals include the regeneration of undeveloped land into a 2,500 home mixed use development, 11-acres of public realm and improvements to canal paths that link the site to MediaCityUK and Manchester city centre.
In total, X1 are creating 742 apartments across five buildings. Tower C will provide 190 of those over 14 storeys, all of which have been sold off plan.
The project was awarded to Raised Floor Solutions by main contractor Vermont Construction, a long-term client.
Metal Deck and Metcon are partnering on the delivery of the composite concrete floor systems installed on the steel frame structure. Kingspan MD60 has been specified in gauges of 0.9mm, 1.0mm and 1.2mm.
Metcon is casting 160mm concrete slabs on the metal decking reinforced with A142 steel mesh and given an easy float finish.
Metalroof will be the last RFS team on site. They will supply and install just over 1,000m2 of metal roof decking with profiles of 60mm and 100mm.
A total of 13,986m2 metal decking will be supplied and installed for the build.
Works commenced in March this year with completion of the full build and fit out scheduled for 2023.
