Raised Floor Solutions has secured the contract to supply and install metal decking for the construction of the striking new ‘Plot A3’ office building at New Bailey in Salford.
The vision of international architecture practice Make Architects, the 16,000m2 office scheme has been designed to be innately sustainable, energy and carbon efficient whilst achieving the goals of ‘increasing biodiversity and creating a positive impact on society’.
Rated BREEAM Outstanding and WELL Platinum, the building will also be one of the first in the UK to have its operational performance verified using the NABERS UK scheme.
Whilst much of Make’s sustainable design expertise has been invested in the elements of the building few will ever get to see – its clever construction and operation – a distinctive green façade, created with over 355,000 plants and believed to be ‘Europe’s largest green wall’, will act as visual evidence of Plot A3’s stand out originality and exceptional green credentials.
RFS is working with main contractor and valued client B+K who are delivering Plot A3 for the English Cities Fund, a consortium consisting of Muse Developments, Homes England and Legal & General.
The building is located on the corner of Trinity Way and Irwell Street adjacent to the New Bailey NCP car park, for which Metpark, the car park contractor division within Raised Floor Solutions, completed the contract to supply and install 14,355m2 of composite car park decking in 2018.
In addition to contemporary commercial office space, the 12-storey building will offer retail or leisure space on the ground floor.
The metal decking contract for the new building will be delivered by Raised Floor Solutions’ expert steel decking contractor division, Metal Deck. Metal Deck will supply and install 13,412m2 of Kingspan Multideck MD60 steel decking in a combination of 0.9mm and 1.2mm gauges.
