Project summary
Raised Floor Solutions is proud to announce the successful completion of the raised access flooring package as part of the extensive refurbishment of the historic Oldham Old Library, now restored and renamed the J.R. Clynes Building. The beautifully restored building has been transformed into a vibrant civic and cultural hub, incorporating a new council chamber, Mayor’s parlour, community spaces, refurbished art gallery, theatre studios, and landscaped public gardens. The redevelopment carefully preserves the building’s rich heritage while seamlessly integrating modern technologies and facilities.
Our scope of works comprised of the installation of over 1,500m² of Tate’s RLG600 Simploc raised access flooring and FDEB (Medium Grade) Polyflor SD, together with the installation of more than 100 bridging steels. This project highlights Raised Floor Solutions’ capability to successfully deliver complex and technically challenging flooring installations within historic and sensitive environments.
Below, you can view images taken during the installation process alongside photographs of the completed building, which members of the RFS team recently had the pleasure of visiting. Having successfully delivered our specialist flooring package as a subcontractor to Tilbury Douglas, it was fantastic to return and see the remarkable transformation of the Grade II-listed Oldham Old Library into the J.R. Clynes Building. The visit, organised in partnership with the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), showcased the exceptional restoration of this historic landmark, where Victorian architecture has been carefully preserved alongside modern infrastructure to create a vibrant civic and cultural hub. As a project delivered on time, within budget, and recognised for its outstanding social value, sustainability, and construction excellence, we are proud to have played our part in bringing this landmark regeneration scheme to life alongside Tilbury Douglas and the wider project team.
