Raised Floor Solutions has been awarded the contract to supply and install 33,500m2 of steel decking for the construction of a major new multi-storey car park for the M&S Bank Arena (formerly Echo Arena) at King’s Dock in Liverpool.

The new car park facility replaces the previous car park which was destroyed by fire in December 2017.

Offering 1450 spaces over nine storeys, the multi-storey-car-park will serve visitors to the Arena, ACC Conference Centre and Liverpool’s historic waterfront, which is enjoying considerable regeneration fuelled by private and public investment.

The new £30m car park will follow the same internal circulation layout as the MSCP recently constructed for Liverpool City Council on Victoria Street, for which RFS also supplied composite flooring. The design features a series of gentle ramps along the circulation route.

Metaldeck Steel Decking will supply and install 33,500m2 of Kingspan Multideck MD80XP 1.2 steel decking. Kingspan XP is manufactured with Magnelis providing outstanding corrosion protection suited to the aggressive C5 marine environment.

RFS is expected on site in July with full scheme completion targeted for Summer 2020.

What is Magnelis?

Magnelis is a flat carbon steel product coated on both sides with a zinc aluminium magnesium alloy. This unique 3% magnesium composition provide self-healing on cut edges scratches and perforations. Magnelis offers three times better corrosion protection than standard galvanised steel, and this advantage increases in more aggressive environments.
