The steel decking contracts for two new Ocado customer fulfilment centres in Andover and Purfleet have been secured by Raised Floor Solutions.
The contracts were awarded in April this year and are part of £3m worth of orders secured by the company over the four-week period, making it the company’s second most successful month on record.
Ocado’s new distribution centre in Andover will replace the online retailer’s flagship robot automated facility, which was destroyed by fire in February 2019.
The new state of the art centre will employ 1,700 people when at full capacity and includes a new logistics facility plus offices, a multi-storey car park, associated service yards and roads and supporting ancillary equipment and buildings.
Ocado’s centre at Purfleet will be a joint venture with M&S with the two retailers sharing a 305,000 sq ft facility on 19-acres at SEGRO Business Park to meet the demand from customers in East London.
As part of the construction RFS division, Metaldeck Steel Decking, will supply and install 12,800m2 of Kingspan Multideck MD50 across the two sites.
Metaldeck will commence works this month (July 2020)
