Raised Floor Solutions is returning to South Wales after securing the steel deck and concrete flooring contract for a £34m student accommodation scheme on the banks of the River Tawe in Swansea.
The impressive scheme will provide 706 beds across four blocks rising from five to seven storeys. Accommodation will include 484 individual suites, 192 ensuite rooms with shared lounges and kitchens and 30 ‘accessible’ rooms. Also within the development are several communal spaces including a cinema, library, gym and large recreation area with a fun spiral chute accessed from the second floor.
Metaldeck are on site supplying and installing 2824m2 of Kingspan Multideck MD80 steel deck. Sister division Metcon will work closely with them to complete the composite flooring, by designing and installing 160mm concrete slabs reinforced with traditional mesh.
The development is scheduled for completion in Summer 2020. Swansea University has seen a 60% rise in the number of applications in the last three years. Around 20,000 students enrolled last year with just 4,000 beds provided by the University.Posted by Jackie Posted on 22 Aug
