The steel decking and composite concrete flooring contract for the £7m final phase of homes at The Depot in South Manchester has been awarded to Raised Floor Solutions.
The Depot is a substantial multi-home development covering five-acres on Bowes Street in Whalley Range and was formerly the Stagecoach bus dept. The development delivers multi-generational housing comprising of both family homes and apartments.
The final phase will deliver 40 one- and two-bedroom shared ownership apartments available exclusively to over-55s through local housing supplier, Mosscare St Vincent’s (MSV).
The apartment scheme has been designed by incumbent architects Buttress and will incorporate ‘HAPPI’ (Housing our Ageing Population Panel for Innovation) design principles, ensuring they are adaptable and accessible with plenty of space and natural light.
The building, which is part-four and part-five storeys, also incorporates a rooftop terrace garden, a secure residents’ garden in the grounds and vehicle and cycle parking.
The contract will be delivered by two Raised Floor Solutions divisions working seamlessly to offer the client a packaged composite concrete floor solution.
Raised Floor Solutions’ in-house design team will design the composite concrete floor construction. Metaldeck Steel Decking will supply and install 3,293m2 of Kingspan Multideck MD50 and 933m2 of Kingspan Multideck MD60.
Metcon Concrete Floors will then cast a 150mm in-situ concrete floor slab on the metal decking reinforced with A193 steel mesh with an easy float finish.
