Raised Floor Solutions has been awarded the contract to supply and install steel decking and concrete flooring for a new £25.4 million student accommodation scheme in Swansea.

The new development is located on The Kingsway in the north west of Swansea and will serve students attending both The University of Swansea and University of Wales Trinity St David.

Three hundred and seven beds will be provided, comprising 26 self-contained studio apartments and 281 en-suite cluster bedrooms, across a six-storey building that rises to 14-storeys in one corner. Ancillary accommodation includes communal areas for working and socialising, a private landscaped garden, a ground floor reception and site management area. The building also includes a ground floor retail unit fronting onto The Kingsway.

Metaldeck, Raised Floor Solutions’ steel decking division, will supply and install 8000m2 of Kingspan Multideck MD60 over 13 floors before teams from sister concrete flooring division, Metcon, move in to design, supply and install a 160mm concrete floor reinforced with A252 mesh.

The Metaldeck and Metcon teams started on site in October 2018.  The building is scheduled for completion this Summer ready for the first students to move in at the start of the 2019/2020 academic year.
