Raised Floor Solutions has secured the steel decking, concrete flooring and structural steel roof decking contracts for a new £26m student accommodation scheme in Sheffield.
The impressive 289-unit development will rise from five and seven storeys and will replace industrial buildings on Allen Street in the St Vincent’s Quarter of the City Centre. The scheme is within walking distance of both Sheffield Hallam University and the University of Sheffield.
Designed by David Cox Architects, the development capitalises on the acute angles of the triangular-shaped site by featuring an eye-catching curved façade on the corner of Allen Street and Shepherd Street. Within the building are spacious studio apartments along with large communal areas for socialising, including a gym and roof garden.
The contract will be delivered by Raised Floor Solution’s decking and concrete teams. First on site in September will be Metaldeck supplying and installing just under 9,000m2 of Kingspan Multideck MD60 steel decking.
Working in partnership with Metaldeck will be the Metcon team who will design and install a 150mm concrete floor slab reinforced with traditional mesh over the same area.
Raised Floor Solutions’ structural steel roof decking division, Metalroof, will then fulfil the final contract by supplying and installing Tata D60 RoofDek.
Completion is scheduled for August 2020 ahead of the 2020/2021 academic year.
