Composite floor construction is progressing well on the second of three blocks of apartments at one of the north west’s biggest private residential schemes, Dock 5 in Salford.
Dock 5 is a £53m new build development that will provide 389 apartments, as well as office and leisure retail accommodation. Residents’ facilities include a waterfront lounge, cinema rooms and a gym as well as a landscaped communal podium deck and car parking.
The 2.8-acre site sits on Ordsall Lane and Fairbrother Street next to the River Irwell and is part of the wider regeneration of the Ordsall Corridor, linking Salford Quays with Manchester city centre.
Metaldeck and Metcon secured the contract to supply and install a total of 36,500m2 of Kingspan MD60 and MD50 and 140mm concrete floor slabs with Dramix steel fibre reinforcement across three blocks and a podium.
After completing the supply and installation of steel floor decking and concrete flooring for block one last year, the Metaldeck and Metcon teams have progressed to block two (pictured).
The first of the homes at Dock 5 are expected to be launched this October with full completion scheduled for 2023.
