Raised Floor Solutions has won the composite flooring contract for the construction of a new £6.5m leisure and social facility for young people living in the Warrington Area.
Warrington Youth Zone will cater for children and young adults between the ages of 8 to 19 years old, and up to 25 years old if they have disabilities or learning difficulties. It will provide a safe place for young people to go if they want to talk, socialise or take part in a wide range of activities and will be open seven days a week, 52 weeks a year.
Up to 20 different activities will be on offer every session, including sport, fitness, dance, arts, music, media and self-improvement. To cater for the varied offering, the new facility will house a sports hall with indoor climbing wall plus a fitness suite and a basement kick pitch.
It also includes a kitchen and café plus dedicated spaces for dance, music, arts and crafts, film, gaming, DJ-ing and multi-media.
Warrington Youth Zone is being constructed on Dallam Lane in Warrington, next to the University Technical College. The capital cost of the facility is being funded by Warrington Borough Council and via donations.
Raised Floor Solutions moved on site in September to supply and install 2,101m2 of Kingspan Multideck MD60 followed by a 140mm concrete floor slab reinforced with traditional A252 mesh and a powerfloat finish. The work will be completed by the company’s steel decking and concrete flooring divisions; Metaldeck and Metcon.
